TBI specializes in providing Consultation-only design services perfect for the DIY-er who wants to implement their own design, but needs the expertise and guidance of a Professional Designer. Our streamlined Design Process for delivering design services to the local Northern Virginia area is described below.
STEP 1. Submit a Project Inquiry
Our design process starts when you Submit a Project Inquiry form through our website. After we have reviewed your inquiry, you will receive an email with our Services, Pricing and Design Process and an opportunity to schedule a 30-minute Phone Discovery Session.
STEP 2. Phone Discovery Session
30 minutes | Free
During this 30-minute discovery session, we will discuss your design needs in detail and offer general direction and ideas. We will go over the Design Process, Services and Pricing outline that was previously emailed and answer any questions you may have. This phone discovery session is an opportunity to get to know one another and see if we are a good fit — and if our services meet your design needs.
STEP 3. Design Work Session
2-Hours | $225
Our Design Work Sessions are for the hands-on homeowner who only requires a design plan, ideas and inspiration for their home and will do the work themselves. Prior to the session, we will send you a Client Questionnaire, which will help to focus the session on your design needs, making optimal use of our time. At the end of the session, you will receive a ‘Room Recommendations Sheet’ with design notes for all the spaces we covered, giving you a starting guide to your decorating.
Please note that since we block out a specific date and time on the calendar for design sessions, consultation fees are billed at the time the appointment is booked. We can email you an invoice for payment.
STEP 5. DIY Design Plans
Add-on Service | Flat fee per room, starting at $150
Our Design Plans are offered as an ‘add-on’ service to the Design Work Session. The Design Plans are perfect for the DIY-er who enjoys doing their own purchasing and executing their own design, but needs a professional design plan and guidance to start. Our DIY Design Plans range from basic Floor Plans/Furniture Layout only to Mood Boards or Full Custom Design Plans complete with Furniture Layout, Design Concept Board, Sourced Products and Shopping List, and Designer Notes. Design Plans can be booked with your Design Work Session or added at your appointment. At the time of your session, we will review and sign a Letter of Agreement (LOA) outlining the scope of work for the plans and invoice for payment before any design plan work commences. Plans are delivered within 2 to 4 weeks after your Design Work Session.
We also offer e-Design services for clients who prefer to work completely virtual or who are outside of the local area.
